Date muhalabia Recipe

Having extra dates and wondering what you can do with them before they dry out?

We got you covered with this flavorful muhalabia date recipe! A smooth texture infused with cardamom, topped with your choice of nuts,,, OMG this is surely a must try!


1 1/4 cup dates, pitted (approx. 12 dates)

1 cup warm milk

3 cups cold milk

5 tablespoons cornstarch

3 mastic pieces grounded with a sprinkle of sugar

1 teaspoon ground cardamom

1 thickned cream can (ashta) 170g


Nuts of your choice: walnuts, pistachio, pecans, almonds,etc.


1- Soak the dates with 1 cup of warm milk for 15 minutes, then blend them together in a blender.

2- In a pan, mix 3 cups of cold milk with cornstarch until well dissolved, add the blended date & milk mixture,then put on the gas and keep stirring until thickened.

3- Add the mastic, cardamom and the cream can.

4- Give it a final stir until homogeneous.

5- pour in cups and decorate once the muhalabia cools down.

Better served cold.
